A TV show based in Vegas casinos with Wesley Snipes as the “pit boss” and lots of Vegas eye candy. How bad could it be?
Here’s what the NBC website says about “The Player“.
From the executive producers of “The Blacklist” comes the action-packed Las Vegas-set thriller “The Player.” The series co-stars Wesley Snipes as a pit boss and Charity Wakefield as the dealer for a high-stakes game where an organization of wealthy individuals gamble on the ability of former military operative turned security expert Philip Winchester (“Strike Back,” “Fringe”) to stop some of the biggest crimes imaginable from playing out. Can he take them down from the inside and get revenge for the death of his wife, or is it true what they say: The house always wins.
Here’s the trailer for the show so you can maybe make sense of what the description means. Listen carefully for Wesley Snipes’ accent.
What kind of accent does Wes have? I’m not sure I completely understand the premise for “The Player” just yet but that’s okay. It’s a show based in Las Vegas and that’s always a good thing for at least 10 minutes. The DVR will be set tonight.
“The Player” hits TV late September. You can find more information on NBC.com. I’ll anxiously be waiting for Wes to drop a reference to “Always Bet On Black.“

Looks entertaining, and it is set in Las Vegas, and it does have tons of eye candy…I’m in. LOL
Thanks, Marc.
Yeah!
Snipes seems a good choice since in real life he was guilty of tax evasion. (Very Vegas.) But the accent is indeed odd. Like a native English speaker but outside of America. Nigeria or Kenya? Hmm. I’m just wondering if betting on red makes me a racist.
I was thinking something African but not sure where. I’ll probably be so focused on the accent when the show airs that I’ll miss all the action. Haha.
It’s a great show and cant wait for season 2
Sadly, the show was cancelled midseason.
