I’ve been to Green Valley Ranch once in 3 years. It’s a nice casino but there’s nothing there that’s worth going out of my way for. GVR is owned by Station Casinos and I live down the street from their flagship property, Red Rock Resort. I already have the best Station Casinos has to offer just down the street.

There’s rarely a reason for me to visit the other side of the Vegas Strip. Adding two pizza joints and a Keno lounge won’t change that. The Downtown Vegas location of Pizza Rock is a much more convenient location for me and I will return soon. If you like GVR here are the details on the $20 million renovation.

Station Casinos LLC will invest $20 million over the next year in Green Valley Ranch Resort by introducing a new lineup of four acclaimed restaurant and bar concepts, as well as enhancing other venues and amenities within the AAA Four Diamond award-winning property in Henderson. New concepts include Mercadito, Tippling Hall, Pizza Rock and Tony’s Slice House.

The news comes on the heels of Station Casinos recent announcement that its other luxury resort, Red Rock Resort, will undergo a $35 million investment, bringing a total of $55 million in capital improvements and new offerings to both resorts.

Highlights of the $20 million reinvestment include:

Mercadito Green Valley Ranch: The Sandoval brothers of Chicago are doubling down in Southern Nevada and with Station Casinos by bringing their award-winning authentic and creative Mexican cuisine to both Green Valley Ranch Resort and Red Rock Resort. With a menu that expertly blends traditional Mexican fare with creative interpretations of local and seasonal ingredients, Mercadito is modeled after the markets Chef/Partner Patricio Sandoval shopped at while growing up in his native Mexico including handmade corn masa tortillas used for tacos, ceviches, guacamoles and salsas to name a few. Creative variations of classic cocktails, incorporating Mexican ingredients and an extensive tequila list will be featured as part of an extensive beverage program. Mercadito was named by Zagat in 2013 as one of “America’s Hottest Mexican Restaurants” and was recognized by USA Today for serving one of the “country’s ten best margaritas.”

Tippling Hall: Part of Mercadito Hospitality, Tippling Hall will provide a spirited and comfortable atmosphere along with a beverage program designed to embrace the culture of drinking rituals from across the globe. Renowned as trendsetters in the beverage industry, Tad Carducci and Paul Tanguay- the Tippling Bros. – will open the new concept in Chicago this summer and bring the second location to Green Valley Ranch Resort to showcase a collage of beverages with innovative and creative presentations to create a temple to all things alcohol. From unique kegged cocktails to traditional brews, Tippling Hall has a drink for everyone paired with a menu of globally inspired comfort food crafted by Chef/Partner Guillermo Tellez.

Pizza Rock: 11-time World Pizza Champion Tony Gemignani is bringing a second location of his popular Pizza Rock concept to Southern Nevada. It will feature classic Italian entrees, pasta, gourmet pizzas in a variety of styles, hand-crafted artisan cocktails and an extensive imported beer and wine list; all served up in an artistic and energetic atmosphere. Tony and his restaurants have received critical acclaim in the pages of USA Today, SAVEUR, FORBES, Men’s Health and Food Arts and he has appeared as a guest on shows such as TODAY, Good Morning America, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Rachael Ray. Recent accolades include: Eater Las Vegas – Winner Best Pizza 2014 and Eater National – One of the 21 Hottest Pizza Places in the U.S.

Slice House by Tony Gemignani: A casual venue to try slices of Tony Gemignani’s world-famous New York, Sicilian, and California style pizzas along with calzones, strombolis, paninis, baked ziti, seasonal salads, meatball subs, sausages and peppers.

Electronic marquee sign: A new modern marquee featuring a 30-foot electronic LED screen as well as a six-foot LED message ticker has replaced the static marquee facing the Clark County 215 beltway.

Keno Lounge: a 16 seat live Keno lounge by the Grand Café with Keno boards conveniently placed throughout the casino recently opened. The Keno Lounge is open from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily.

Additional enhancements:
Several property enhancements will include the addition of a wedding suite as well as refreshes to nearly 300 guest rooms that comprise the resort’s East Tower, the 30,000 square foot Spa at Green Valley Ranch Resort, some banquet space, the high limit gaming room and updates and additional seating at the Feast Buffet. Additionally, 33 of the resort’s VIP suites ranging from 2000 to 4,000 square feet will be upgraded.
