Medal of Honor Poker Table at Station Casinos

When I first moved to Las Vegas I had a choice of 3 casinos to call home. Red Rock Resort, Suncoast and Rampart are all within the length of a song of where I live. I chose Red Rock for a few reasons (there’s an old blog post on it somewhere) but you probably know one of the major reasons is because the sportsbook bar is almost like my local bar.

Station Casinos has also been involved with the community in a very public way since I moved here. In the past they’ve offered veterans free buffets and have donated to the Susan G. Komen “Race for the Cure” fund. Sure these are marketing ploys to get people in the door but they’re offering real value to the community.

This kind of philanthropy is almost as endearing as their 9/6 Jacks or Better video poker. I feel a little less awful when I lose money with Station Casinos. Just a little.

The “Month of Honor” promotion with Veterans Village is a huge expansion on the offers they’ve given to military persons in the past. Instead of trying to paraphrase the information I’ll offer the details in the HUGE press release:

LAS VEGAS (April 27, 2015)- Station Casinos will launch a month-long fundraising effort to raise awareness and funds for homeless veterans and their families who reside at Veterans Village located in Downtown Las Vegas. Proceeds raised throughout May will benefit Southern Nevada’s only 24/7 crisis intervention and housing facility that cares for our local homeless veterans and their families. From May 1-31, all 19 Station Casinos properties and venues including the cafes, casino bars, bingo rooms, spas and gaming areas including designated slot machines, designated blackjack and poker tables will be themed patriotic to signify where the Company will donate a portion of its proceeds and gaming winnings.

“We are honored to be a part of the Station Casinos’ Month of Honor which will assist Veterans Village to continue to provide housing and supportive services for our United States Veterans with honor and dignity,” said Veterans Village founder Dr. Arnold Stalk.

Month of Honor will feature:

Patriotic Gift Cards: Patriotic-themed gift cards are available for purchase with 5% of the gift card value being donated.

Patriotic Pastries: A variety of exclusively created patriotic-themed desserts such as Bundt cakes, sugar cookies, red velvet cupcakes, candy-covered strawberries and brownies will be available at all cafes including Boulder Station, Fiesta Henderson, Green Valley Ranch Resort, Palace Station, Red Rock Resort, Texas Station, Santa Fe Station and Sunset Station.

Round up for honor: Guests will be invited to round up their dining check in the majority of restaurants inside all 19 properties, excluding food court venues.

Take a vet to dinner: Guests may donate some of their Boarding Pass rewards points at any Rewards Center in exchange for a buffet voucher to be enjoyed by a resident of Veterans Village.

Red, White and Blue slots: A variety of patriotic-themed slot banks will be featured throughout the casino floors at 18 of Station Casinos’ properties. Discounted artwork provided by Sunkist Graphics.

Bingo Patriotic Packs: Special bingo pink packs will be offered at every Monday bingo session for $4. Patriotic packs will be available in both paper and electronic. The $1 cash ball validation fee is not included in the purchase price of the patriotic packs. Properties participating in the bingo patriotic packs include Boulder Station, Green Valley Ranch Resort, Palace Station, Red Rock Resort, Santa Fe Station, Sunset Station and Texas Station. Bingo patriotic packs were generously donated by gaming partner Fortunet.

“21” for the Red, White and Blue: Properties that offer blackjack tables will have a designated “patriotic” table Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31. Table felts were generously donated by gaming partner GPI.

Poker Goes Patriotic: Poker tables at Red Rock Resort, Green Valley Ranch Resort, Boulder Station, Santa Fe Station and Palace Station will have a designated “patriotic” table Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31.

Table felts were generously donated by gaming partner GPI.

Visit Vegas: Active or retired members of the military are invited to enjoy special hotel packages that include breakfast and free slot play at any Station Casinos property now through August 31. $5 from every room reservation will be donated. Must book special package online at sclv.com/patriot and show military ID upon check in.

Employee-Driven Canned food and toiletry drive: Station Casinos’ 12,000 employees will be invited to donate needed canned food and toiletries for the residents of Veterans Village.

Massages for the Military: 5% of every 50-minute Hot Stone Massage at Red Rock Resort or Green Valley Ranch Resort will be donated.

Budweiser Match: Anheuser Busch will donate $1 per bottle of Budweiser sold at all casino bars.

Crown Royal Care Packages for Vets: Donate needed non-perishable food items and toiletries for Veterans Village at Crown Royal donation bins located at the Reward Center. Crown Royal will also donate $1 to military organizations for every purple Crown Royal bag donated.

Station Casinos has always been a significant supporter of the military, most recently introducing its Military Monday and Operation Thank You initiatives to thank the military community with a variety of discount programs. Month of Honor continues and grows the Company’s commitment to showing its appreciation to the military community. To learn more about Month of Honor, visit https://www.sclv.com/monthofhonor.
