Caesars Las Vegas Hotel Rooms Ranked (2017 Update)

linqroom

Caesars Entertainment has a variety of room styles in every Las Vegas hotel. In addition to room styles, many hotels have multiple towers. The wrong hotel room can make for a bad trip.

Hopefully, this brief overview of the rooms and casino experience help you choose the best casino-resort to stay in Las Vegas. Here are my rankings for the different Caesars hotel rooms in Las Vegas.

  1. Caesars Palace – Just about all of the hotel rooms have been renovated in the past 5 years. Stay in Augustus or Octavius is you want to be away from the casino. The Julius Tower puts you right in the middle of the casino. The Palace Tower is closest to the pools. Augustus is my personal favorite at this massive casino.
  2. The Cromwell – The rooms are small but look good and functional. The views aren’t great but ask for a strip view. The other view is looking at the wall of the Flamingo hotel. Overall, the boutique hotel and casino is small but probably my favorite in the Caesars chain. There’s just a fun vibe here.
  3. The Linq – The rooms are tiny but well put together. The small rooms don’t feel as claustrophobic as you might think. The clean rooms, lively and large casino, and center strip location make this one of the best bargain hotels on the Vegas Strip. Upgrade to a suite for a separate bedroom and living room.
  4. Planet Hollywood – All of the rooms were updated this year. The room updates are bland and they no longer have the movie memorabilia many people loved. The Miracle Mile Shops give lots of dining options without going outside. The casino is always a party when the sun goes down. The rooms are fine but this is an especially fun place to eat, drink, and gamble.
  5. Flamingo – I like the Go rooms almost as much as I hate this casino. I’m in the minority with my feelings on the Flamingo but walking into this casino makes me itch. If you must stay here, choose the Go room or one of the newly renovated rooms.
  6. Bally’s – The Jubilee tower rooms are the high-end of average prices in Las Vegas. They’re nice for the price and the only real option if you’re staying at Bally’s. The oldest rooms will finally receive an update in 2018. This casino is a good option for low rollers on the Vegas Strip.
  7. Paris – Paris is one of the highest ranking hotels in the hierarchy of Caesars Las Vegas properties. I don’t think it’s as great as they do. Caesars Entertainment renovated many of the hotel rooms in 2017. If you’re staying here choose a Burgundy room.
  8. Harrah’s – Almost all of the hotel rooms at the casino have been or will be renovated. The Valley Tower rooms have all received a makeover. The property is the personification of mediocre. Everything is average but nothing is amazing. That said, the location is great if you want a value property near the center-north end of the Vegas Strip.
  9. Rio – The lone Caesars property off the Vegas Strip has all suites. The casino feels old and isolated. That said, it’s cheap for a large room. This is a good option for groups just looking for a cheap place to crash.

Caesars Entertainment is currently offering their Cyber Sale with rates starting at $29 (+ fees) or 25% off. Check the rates even if you already have a reservation. If they’re lower than you paid, Caesars will typically match prices.

Best Cheap Blackjack On The Vegas Strip

Cheap Blackjack Cards

Blackjack

There are about as many good cheap blackjack games on the Vegas Strip as you might have expected. In other words, there aren’t many. Where you do find good cheap blackjack you should expect that there are only one or two of these tables at most of the casinos listed below. They should be easy to spot since you’ll probably see a large crowd at these tables so you might have to wait for a seat.

For simplicity, I’m using $15 as the cut off for cheap blackjack and just listing the house edge of the games. I’m also listing the casinos alphabetically, and not by the smallest house edge. You can see the full survey here. The list is great and has information on all blackjack at every casino in Las Vegas.

Bally’s – House Edge: 0.57
Caesars Palace – House Edge: 0.57
The Cromwell – House Edge: 0.57
Excalibur – House Edge: 0.66
Flamingo (and Margaritaville) – House Edge: 0.57
The Linq – House Edge: 0.57
Harrah’s – House Edge: 0.55
New York – New York – House Edge: 0.48
Paris – House Edge: 0.57
Planet Hollywood – House Edge: 0.57
SLS Las Vegas – House Edge: 0.48
Treasure Island – House Edge: 0.46 and 0.48
Tropicana – House Edge: 0.57

Performing inside the Donny & Marie Showroom, the internationally-renowned singer-actress will continue to take audiences on a musical journey through her life in film and music.

“I’m really excited to continue to call the Flamingo home through 2016,” says Newton-John. “I love being a part of this great community and I look forward to creating more wonderful memories in Las Vegas next year.”

A special pre-sale will be available to Total Rewards members (Caesars Entertainment’s loyalty program), and official Olivia Newton-John and Flamingo Las Vegas Facebook fans from Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. PT through Thursday, Nov. 19 at 10 p.m. PT. The following dates will go on sale to the public on Friday, Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. PT:

  • Jan.: 19 –  22, 26 – 30
  • July: 5 – 9, 12 – 16
  • Aug.: 9 –13, 16 – 20
  • Oct.: 18 – 22, 25 – 29
  • Nov.: 22 – 26, 29 – 30
  • Dec.: 1 – 3

In addition, tickets can still be purchased to the following previously-announced performances:

  • Nov.: 18 – 21, 24 – 28
  • Dec: 1 – 5; 15 – 19; 29 – 31
  • Jan.: 1 – 2

The production, featuring an eight-piece band, takes fans on a journey through the celebrated singer, actress, songwriter and philanthropist’s life and career, and was recorded and released as a two-CD collection “Summer Nights – Live In Las Vegas” earlier this year. With a career spanning over five decades with more than 100 million albums sold, Olivia’s successes include four Grammys, numerous Country Music, American Music, Billboard and People’s Choice Awards, an Emmy Award, ten #1 hits and more than 15 top 10 singles. She recently scored another #1 hit, this time on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart with her latest single, “You Have to Believe,” with her daughter Chloe Lattanzi. In 1978, her co-starring role with John Travolta in Grease catapulted Olivia into super-stardom and to date remains the most successful movie musical of all time.

The show is a musical journey through the iconic artist’s illustrious career featuring hits from her early years including “Have You Never Been Mellow,” “Let Me Be There,” “If You Love Me Let Me Know” and “I Honestly Love You,” as well some of her hits from Grease, “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” “You’re The One That I Want,” and of course, “Summer Nights.”  Favorites from some of her other movies, including Xanadu, as well as her ‘80s anthem and record breaking song “Physical,” keep the room dancing, while new songs from her recent Billboard hit album Grace and Gratitude warm the hearts of the entire audience.

In addition, Newton-John is thrilled that a portion of every ticket sold to her Flamingo shows benefits the wellness programs the Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Centre (ONJCWC). In 1992, Olivia was diagnosed with breast cancer and it was her personal triumph against cancer that led her to announce her partnership with the Austin Health and the creation of the ONJCWC in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia.  The ONJCWC opened its doors in 2012 and, provides a comprehensive range of services and facilities for cancer treatment, education, training and research as well as a dedicated wellness center (oliviaappeal.com). The Olivia Newton Cancer Research Institute opened its doors on the grounds of the ONJCWC in 2014.

Throughout her career, the much-loved star has held many humanitarian and environmental causes close to her heart, particularly since the birth of her daughter Chloe. Olivia served as Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations Environment Programme, was the co-founder of Children’s Health Environmental Coalition (now Healthy Child, Healthy World) and, in 1992 she created National Tree Day in Australia, which is responsible for planting more than 10 million trees since its beginning. In 2008 she married “Amazon John” Easterling and together they are spreading the word about the importance of preserving the Rainforest by serving on the board of the ACEER Organization (ACEER.org). With her life today focusing on health and wellness, Olivia is the co-owner of the internationally award-winning Gaia Retreat and Spa near Byron Bay in Australia. Most recently she co-founded One Tree, One Child, an international school initiative with the goal of having every child under the age of ten plant at least one tree. Marriott To Buy Starwood and Invades the Vegas Strip

Marriott

Marriott

Marriott announced that they will be buying Starwood Hotels this morning. This comes on the heels of Starwood announcing that SLS Las Vegas will be a part of their Tribute Collection last week (see article on Travel Zork). Part of the SLS connection is that Starwood would be changing the Lux tower at SLS into W Las Vegas.

A Starwood sale wasn’t a secret but Hyatt was becoming the favorite to buy them (see article on Travel Zork). This deal was made because most of Marriott’s rooms before the purchase were in the United States. About 2/3rds of Starwood hotel rooms are outside of the United States. Marriott now has 1.1 million hotel rooms around the world.

Back to Vegas.

Starwood’s biggest connection with Vegas is through its current affiliation with Caesars Entertainment. The SLS program will begin in December and W Las Vegas will open mid-late 2016. Marriott’s current Vegas Strip affiliation is with the Cosmopolitan. Since the Cosmo was sold last year it’s been rumored that they will eventually join Hilton in some way.

Might the Cosmopolitan become a Starwood hotel?  I know at least one person that will lose his mind if that happens.

Details on the merger of the programs haven’t been released yet. The press release is more financially driven. It’s possible, but unlikely, that Starwood and Marriott will remain separate brands that would keep their individual loyalty programs.

The deal isn’t expected to be completed until sometime in 2016. Unless relationships change these are the hotels on the Vegas Strip that will become Marriott hotels:

  • Bally’s
  • Caesars Palace
  • Cosmopolitan
  • The Cromwell
  • Flamingo
  • Harrah’s
  • The Linq
  • Paris
  • Planet Hollywood
  • Rio
  • SLS Las Vegas
  • W Las Vegas

Marriott would be the hotel partner for almost half of the hotels on the Vegas Strip (12 of 26 or so). That’s kind of a big deal. Look forward to more information to follow next year.

PS: Starwood Hotels and Starwood Capital are not the same company. This old rumor is probably just be a coincidence.

Caesars Happy Hour Deals In Vegas

Caesars Happy Hour At Fizz Las Vegas

Caesars Happy Hour At Fizz

Caesars just released happy hour deals at some of their Vegas bars and restaurants. Happy Hour in Vegas is a great way to save money and get the night started or just try something new.

I’m not a champagne drinker but the $36 All You Can Drink deal at Fizz sounds like something I’d like to try one night. It’s a good excuse to try something different. Plus I can drink champagne fast.

I highlighted names of the restaurants and hotels where you can find them. On a related note, if you need discount codes for Caesars hotels in Vegas there are various discounts to the right. I also just got this “up to 40% off” deal.

  • FIZZ, the lavish champagne lounge and bar inside Caesars Palace, is now hosting Bottomless Bubbles, a daily bottomless champagne event, where for $36 per person, guests can drink all the bubbles they can within the 5 to 7 p.m. or 7 to 9 p.m. windows.
  • With a recently expanded dining room and outdoor patio, including a full-service bar and 26-ft. tall Tiffany-style lamp, Serendipity 3 at Caesars Palace is now hosting a special $5 happy hour from 2 to 6 p.m. daily. The menu features a variety of beers, well cocktails and house-made sangria. Also featured are small bites like soft pretzels with nacho cheese and honey mustard, two bbq pulled pork sliders and mini-sundaes.
  • Las Vegas’ favorite pub experience, Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at Caesars Palace, has introduced a very special Hell’s Kitchen Happy Hour, in honor of Ramsay’s hit FOX reality series. Happy hour offerings include $5 13oz draft beers, with a $2 upgrade for a 20oz pint, $5 draft wines, and $5 pub snacks, which include house-made pretzels, Devils on Horseback, truffle chips and Deviled Eggs. Guests can experience these special offerings Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Overlooking the world-famous Strip, Las Vegas’ only Ruth’s Chris Steak House at Harrah’s Las Vegas, is now hosting a daily Sizzle, Swizzle & Swirl Happy Hour from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. Premium cocktails and menu items are offered throughout this time, including: Prime Burger with fries, Steak Sandwich with fries, Seared Ahi Tuna, Spicy Lobster, Bluberry Mojito, La Paloma, Manhattan Eastside and selection of wines.
  • Carnaval Court at Harrah’s Las Vegas joins in the happy hour fun, offering a daily special of $4 Miller/Coors from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, $8 call drinks are available as well.
  • Harrah’s Las Vegas country music party spot, Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill, hosts its own brand of happy hour Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a variety of food and drink specials. Guests can buy one draft beer in a 32oz. Mason Jar for $9 and get one free. Food specials are available for $11 and include pulled pork sliders, hot link hoagies and the Honky Tonk meatloaf sandwich and more.
  • The sophisticated New York City import, BLT Steak at Bally’s Las Vegas, boasts a stylish bar with elegant fixtures and signature cocktail staples, including the Watermelon Basil and the Cool Woodford with Woodford Reserve and Ginger Beer. Guests can enjoy these cocktails and more half-priced at the bar from 4 to 7 p.m. daily.
  • Offering a French interpretation on American classics, Burger Brasserie at Paris Las Vegas hosts a daily happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. with 2-for-1 on any drinks in the bar area.
  • Flamingo Las Vegas’ cool and casual steak house, Center Cut, is hosting an all-new happy hour that includes swanky bites such as signature Poutine, bacon two ways, truffle mac and cheese, as well as Giggle Water cocktails such as Spice Pear Mojito, New Fashioned and Patron Pomegranate Cocktail. Center Cut’s happy hour is offered daily with drinks available from 4 to 7:30 p.m. and bites available 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino hosts casino-wide happy hour with happy hour specials at several casino bars:

Top Dollar: My Favorite Slot Machine

Top Dollar Slot Machine Bonus

Top Dollar Bonus

Over the years I’ve written about the original Top Dollar reel slot machines a lot. They’re by far my favorite slot machine and probably the game that got me into playing slot machines. Most 3 coin reel slot slot machines are boring but the loud and obnoxious bonus round totally fits what I like in a slot machine. Check it out.

If you search Top Dollar slot wins on YouTube you’ll notice that many of the people playing Top Dollar are loud and kind of obnoxious – just like the game. And like the Top Dollar slot machines everyone is having fun. When I get a bonus (see photo above) I’ll usually throw my hands in the air and dance a little.

When I was at Flamingo a few weeks ago I played this quarter game to start off my day of gambling. I like to ease into a day of gambling with a lower limits machine even though I prefer the $1 or $5 version of this game. I’m usually just not ready for human interaction and don’t like to risk much the first thing in the morning or afternoon.

These Top Dollar reel slot machines are slowly disappearing from casinos. New casinos opening don’t want the older machines and older casinos don’t want to seem old. There are new versions of Top Dollar but they aren’t as fun.

You won’t find this Top Dollar slot machine in the regular casino at Cosmopolitan or Downtown Grand and probably won’t find it when SLS Las Vegas opens. You may find Top Dollar in some of their high limits rooms though. You’ll also be able to find Top Dollar in larger casinos with sections of older machines like Flamingo or Mandalay Bay. Get em while you can!

The Quad Is Out. The Linq Hotel Is In

The Linq Hotel Room

The Linq Hotel Room

The Quad replaced Imperial Palace less than two years ago. In late October The Quad name will go away and the hotel next to the Flamingo will be called The Linq Hotel and Casino. The change has been rumored for a while since the hotel flanks The Linq mall/promenade.

As far as name changes go The Linq Hotel makes a lot of sense. The Linq Hotel will finish the remodel of the old Imperial Palace that began with The Quad. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Casino renovations have already begun and will be complete when The Linq Hotel opens October 30.
  • Rooftop pool renovation.
  • Renovated hotel rooms. Caesars Entertainment made sure to renovate bathrooms unlike Flamingo Fab rooms.
  • Cabana suites with private access to the pool.
  • Slow elevators, plumbing and other infrastructure will not be updated.
  • Property-wide wifi.
  • Lots of bars. TAG Bar is an awesome beer bar. Check my Vegas Chatter article.
  • Automated check-in and concierge.
  • All Asian theming from Imperial Palace will be gone.
  • HOTEL ROOM PRICE INCREASE. Room rates are currently around $29 but will start at $89 when the name changes.

Here’s The Linq Hotel promo video to get you stoked.
